Hello, I am putting together a v-10 for my 1999 f-250. It has PI heads that have been ported along with the intake, a set of comp cams and is bored .030 over. I have a diablo sport tuner in the truck and am planning on a larger throttle body and Banks long tube header the compression will be about 10:1. I am wondering about the diablo turner and what i will need to change due to the mods I have and will I need a bigger set of injectors?
With those upgrades, you will definitely need a "custom" tune and probably some dyno time. Where did you find the Comp Cams for the V10? I believe that they have been discontinued by Comp Cams. As for new injectors, I don't think that you will need them. If you were installing a supercharger, then definitely yes.
Hopefully other FTE members will chime in with their recommendations.
I ran a diablo for a long time and had no complaints but recently I purchased a custom tune from Mike at 5-Star and the difference is amazing. With your setup, you really need to talk to Mike.
The Diablosport tuner will be fine you just need to get a some custom tunes for it. Th ebest way is to find a shop that supports the Diablosport hardware/software and have them dyno your truck and sell you the custom tunes. Since you put some coin into the engine thus far you might as well spend the little extra a get it dialed in on the dyno. The Diablosport canned tunes that come with the tuner are junk but there software and hardware setup is good. A lot of custom tuning shops use Diablosport. I just don't see the need to spend money and go buy another tuner when your current tuner is up to the task. Better off spending that money at the dyno IMO.
I don't think you changed your fuel requirements enough to need a set of larger injectors but I could be wrong. The shop that does the tuning can let you know. If you go with dyno tuning you WILL find out for sure if your current injectors are up to the task.
