Just picked up this `96 with 43,000 on it to go along with my `88 .Need some new rubber but don`t want to have the "truck type ride.Definately want to go bigger than the stock265`s "
It is unfortunate that BFG is owned by the French. I bought a set of AT's for my 87 Ranger. I love them but I won't buy any more because they are French owned. I have ordered a set of COOPER tires (Discoverer LT, 32x11.50R 15) for my just purchased 89 Bronco with 54,000 original miles on it. I was told that they would fit on the factory 8" wheels without rubbing or having to make any modifications.
I have a set of mickey thompson baja belted on my 94. they pull around the road wear bad humm loud and vibrate the truck. not a good tire at all. bad in the mud not too bad in the snow rain or on the road, but i deffinately wouldn't recommend them. my brother used to run 31" cooper cobra's on his dodge dakota and they ran really nice for a truck. my old jeep had dunlop rover radials. but it had a really stiff suspension so i couldn't judge anything from that. they wern't that bad of a tire either though.
I have heard alot of good things about the Pirelli Scorpions 32x11.5x15 and will be putting a set on my truck when my 285/70/15 BFG Radial TA's wear out more or I get tired of them and sell them.
wait, are you guys really serious about not buying those tires cause some french company own that brand?! Cause if that is the case you dont even need tires, cause its not like the gas you are puttin in your Bronco is allied. Guess you arent going anywhere! ha ha
i replaced my tires at 60,000 and now have 160,000 and they are in better shape then the ones i took off at 60k and they were the same mich,s as were on outta the fact.french or not when the time comes again i will buy the michelins............if i get my spindle problem worked out....
I've got 32x11.50 MT\R's on mine. They ride pretty well, and don't make much noise compared to some other aggressive tires. I can't tell you if they last long, but I've read they aren't to bad in longevity. They've got great traction and off-road capabilities. Makes my Bronco look just a little bit meaner than the others with 31' all-terrains.
dunlop rovers have been my calling for tires, theyre cheap, theyre good. adn i know they last at leasty 100,000miles. i got a set os 31x11.50 with 1118,000 on them they almost ned to be replaced. not bad for 75$ a wheel. they dont pull they dont make noise adn they lock up to the snow and dirt, not much int he mud though.
They should be either 15x7.5 or 15x8. As far as I know both sizes were available depending upon the option package.
Oh and by the way guys, I'm as patriotic as the next person, but the idea of boycotting a specific tire because the French are too chicken $h*t to help out the two countries that helped put them back on their feet after a few wars isn't worth my time. the French will live to see their gasoline prices skyrocket well abouve those in this country. Sorry for the extremely political slant to the post but it just hit a nerve.
