Question Adding 2 Cycle Oil

I have seen some post on other diesel sites where folks are adding 2 cycle oil to a tank of fuel. I know it is to help with lubricity and the dryness in the new ULSD, but how much is reasonable? I run a kleener at every full up, so do I stop with one or continue with both? Will this foul the EGR or any other valuable sensors that are tied to that stinking environmental system? Just try to decide if it is a good thing for engine life.

Thanks

IMHO it's an absolute waste of money and oil. The problems with 6.0 injectors are on the oil side not the fuel side.

You need a cetane booster like DieselKleen or stanadyne or the likes.

Yes I have run oil thru my race car it does help the injectors (ON THE GASSER) but on a diesel its a completely different beast.

On most Gassers the injector is lubricated thru the fuel system(if you wanna call it lubricating LMAO) and running a little bit of oil helps clean out the nozzles and the oil tends to hang leave a little behind in the entire system. I did have a problem with fuel filters till I got wise an put an inline in which I changed out before racing (it was a street/strip car and sometimes my daily driver)

So no oil to fuel in diesel!!!

I run a mix of DK and 2 stroke at least every other tank. I don't have any objective proof that it's worth a darn, but knowing how tight the tolerances are on the fuel side of these injectors(and the 28,00PSI), I have to think a little lube can't hurt.

I found a Decibel APP for my phone. I have recently stopped using 2 stroke. So, after a couple of tanks with just DieselKleen, I will check the decibels at hot idle and hot high idle.

Then I will run a tank with 2 stroke and do the same test. Just for fun to see if what I'm hearing is actual or just mental.

I've always thought my injectors were quieter with the 2 stroke. Now I'll find out.

(By the way, I think the 2 stroke might be having a bad influence on the EGR valve. Will pull and clean my "new" EGR valve Friday. Then again just before the 2 stroke goes back in. Then pull again after a couple tanks with. Then compare pictures.

This post from another thread may make you change your mind.

for those that add oil to diesel fuel it is worst than not running anything at all:

May be I read it wrong, but TC-W3 oil is better than stanadyne and Diesel kleen, which I used and many others. So I would say TC-W3 oil is much better than nothing and even better than what I use myself. So what I do is I mix TC-W3 oil with diesel kleen, one for lubrictiy (oil), one for a bit of cetane boost and cleaning power.

7)Super Tech Outboard 2-cycle TC-W3 engine oil
Unconventional (Not ULSD compliant, may damage 2007 or newer systems)
HFRR 474, 162 micron improvement
200:1 ratio
16.64 oz/tank

10)Power Service Diesel Kleen + Cetane Boost
Multi-purpose
Cetane improver, bio-diesel compatible, alcohol free
HFRR 575, 61 micron improvement

If you use the TCW-3 method, you are basically adding one quart of oil to a tank of fuel. I have the 2006 6.0L so per the study, it should not be a major problem?????

I've pulled my egr valve twice now ( once per year) after using 2-stroke oil and both times the valve was clean. Just wiped off the greyish black powdery coating and it was shiny.

I've been running TCW-3 for about three years. I just pulled my EGR cooler and turbo. The EGR cooler looked great, no carbon buildup. The EGR valve had some, but not bad. From what I can tell by other's pictures, the turbo had a comparable amount of build-up, but the unison ring was stuck. Was it from the oil, I don't think so. It had rusted to the center housing.

They call it "Ashless" for a reason. I run some in every tank while towing and in every other tank not towing.

I used the 2 stroke mix of 128 to 1 for over 3 years before stopping because of a 2% biodiesel mandate came into effect in my state. Never had a problem with any crud build up, but I must say I never noticed any sound difference when first using it. Some people claim it's a waste of money, maybe maybe not. There is data that shows the 2 cycle oil increases the lubricity in the fuel which might help the longevity of the 6.0 injectors.

For that specific oil yes but if you read the oils below at the botom it actually made it worst...

They used a baseline diesel that was not treated yet.

Im wondering where I get that FPPF stuff at
