Well, I'm new to this Forum and I am glad it is here. I am also new to this 2008 F-350 I bought recently. Without talking about this mileage this thing gets, let me say that it runs great and has more power than any other truck I have ever owned......including two other diesels.
My question right now is that my "check engine light" came on as I was coming home from my recent hunting trip. I know you cannot tell me what might have caused this.........but I don't want to take it to the dealer and pay $100.+ to have them tell me it is low on windshield washer fluid!! How can I get the error codes from the computer??? Can some of the parts stores read these codes?? I used to be able to read error codes 20 years ago by turning key on three times and it would flash numbers relating to a specific error codes......probably those days are gone. If you can help me, I would appreciate it.
PS. Truck has 48,000 miles on it.
Dealer won't charge you anything, the $100 fee is a thing of the past now and you are still well under warranty. Take it in before something major might happen to it.
