Hey Tony.
I think I need to change this part on my '97 ranger. My wipers quit working, but everything else works on the part. Do you know how I can be sure that the problem is this part or the wiper motor itself? Could a fuse keep the wipers only from working?
That is a great vid on changing the arm.
If anyone else can help me with this, I will dance at your next wedding.
EDIT: Ok guys, I found more info on another search and will try the things I found to do. But feel free to let me know what you think.

i had the same problem with my switch. i took off the end cap, pressed the switch in to where it would be 'washers on' and sprayed electronics cleaner liberally up into the switch. wipers suddenly worked again. i don't think that is a permanent fix though, as even now i still occasionally get the 'phantom wipers' syndrome. a new part would probably cure that.
great video how-to by the way.
