1999 2.5 Ranger - 5 sp. Must have a short somewhere - wipers will turn on by themselves every few days. When it happens, I get one wipe - kinda like a mist function - but I do not have mist option on the truck. I am thinking it is probably a bad switch on the wiper stalk. Am waiting on this to fail permanently so it will be something I can find. Anyone had problems like this? TIA!
ummm no...but the arms that connect to the motor on my bros. 88 ranger pop off from hittin bumps in my driveway...not funny when u cant see with mud all over the windshield
Had same problem with my 96 replaced mulitfunction switch, or wiper and turn signal switch depending on what the auto parts store calls it. Havent had any problem since
I replaced a multifunction switch on my 98 F-150 because of the Haunted Wiper syndrome and that fixed the problem. It is a PITA to replace and the darn switch and it was around $90.00 for the switch from the Stealership.
I got a letter from Ford back in May 00 outlining prgram 00B40 & got my multifunction switch replaced at no cost, on my 99 Ranger, by my dealer, maybe you'll be as lucky.
My letter didn't have an exparation date on the program, so if your vehicle hasn't had the multifunction switch replaced under it, you should still be covered.
Your Dealer can check the vin# on the computer to check it's status. So give them a call & see, maybe it's your luckey day.
alot of people have had this same problem. my wifes '00 had hers replaced at the dealer and would have cost a pretty penny if it wasn't under warranty. gl!
