Intercooler?

Ok guys so i installed my TS 6 pos and i have some gauges on the way, Isspro EV2 boost and pyro. I am curious as to whether i will be needing an IC, and what you have found to be the cheapest and most effective system? I have read alot of people are running stock SD IC's, i am just curious how much you have paid for the setup and how much it helped. I do plan on eventually going with Stage 1's and upgrade my fuel supply and probably Hpop work as well. I am not looking to make huge HP just a nice bump and increased fuel millage. Thanks, Chad.

If you plan on actually using this new found power, you'll want the IC for sure. I got a used 7.3 IC from one of the guys here and used IC pipes from another. I think the total was nearly $400 by the time I had it installed, but well worth it. Had it in for nearly 2 years and haven't made it over 1250* yet.

Yeap with that set up you will need the IC, you can use the 7.3 or 6.0 SDs IC and some pipes from them and/or fab your own pipes. I used a 6.0 from a 2004 SD with the pipes and had to modify some of them, but that was easy, the most difficult thing I have read its to get now the early 99 Y pipe and after that to make the holes in the core support to install the IC.

good luck

Hey thanks guys i am going to start looking/collecting parts for the IC. How about the fuel issue, will i be needing to supply more fuel than mechanical lift pump can supply? Also wondering about hpop.

stages ones wont tap out the mechanical lift pump, there not that bad for what the design is. i ran 160/80s for a majority of the time i had the truck and i never had an issue running out of fuel or high pressure oil. i later upgraded to dual electric pumps and the t500 hpop which is a cheap upgrade that gets it done!

I second the T500, installed the same chip as you did smokey and had HPOP issues not being able to keep up with the higher demand. I think I remember someone saying that is due to the Cali Fuel Pump Model I have though (I could be mistaken)?? Would hit 25+ lbs of boost and ECL would come on and had no power. A simple restart cleared the code, but the new pump solved any issues. The new HPOP also helped, A LOT, with some cold start issues. Good Luck!

There is a kit in the making right now from a guy over on the .org forum that will be coming out soon where all you will need is to find a IC. And you won't need a spider pipe either. Pricepoint hasn't been set for sure yet but it's been said to be around 500.

It's supposed to all be mandrel bent to. So for about 600 bucks I don't think it's to bad. But I don't have any welding skills either so I'm going to have to go this route.

let me know when the price point is completed and if he has any pics of a completed product (pre & post install). Sounds interesting as I have very little welding/fab equipment available to me. Thanks for the info J!

There are pics up right now. But it's not the mandrel bent setup yet. Just how he welded it together. I'll let you know when it is on sale. I check it everyday! Patiently waiting!

Alright, I know was what an inter cooler was but didnt think it was what they were talking about since there is one already haha. So is overheating an issue with these trucks when you have the ts 6 pos chip? Because I just got one as well. I found a 6.0 trans cooler and bought the punisher valve body for the trany. But no help for the engines cooling system.

Yeah I think im going to stick with stage ones and then get my ts retuned once those go in. But like i mentioned I already did get the 6.0 trans cooler and the punisher valve body to help out the trany.
