I am looking for exhaust manifold studs for my 85 F350 with a 7.5L. I've looked at all the local places and the usual places online and can't find just the studs. There are quite a few that come with the manifolds but they don't mention the size. If I could get the size of the studs or where I can order them from I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks.
Are you talking about the studs for the exaust pipe or to the head? The threads in the heads are 3/8-16, the manifold is either going to be 7/16-14 or may be a metric. I don't have mine out to check.
I could buy bolts, yes, but I was hoping to get the studs. I also don't know what size they need to be other than taking the manifold in with me and sizing it that way.
Most parts stores carry exhaust stud kits. If they are american thread they will be 7/16-14, Chevys use 3/8-16 studs (they're the ones that almost always break off).
Unfortunately they're metric. I believe the one's that go into the manifold are 11-14 or 16. The other end doesn't matter too much. I'm running back to the parts store tomorrow to see if there are any metric studs that might fit. As a precaution, I'm bringing in a spare manifold just to test the threads. Wish me luck. I'll let you know tomorrow.
When it comes to exhaust manifold studs, I prefer to buy them, from Ford, as the factory ones are actually a tapered thread, not a normal straight thread.
