CHROME 460 valve covers
trying to find some of these discontinued valve covers... all you can find is polished Alum and I don't want to polish
these are cast aluminum with a chrome finish... help ??

but there are a few places left..
CHROME ALUMINUM VALVE COVER 429/460
I got mine for $205, including shipping, May 2010.

that's the best I've found also Sam... and was my backup plan... I keep seeing them for around 140 but no one has them... Heck if I didn't have them, I'd advertise them for 50 bucks !!! bet I'd get a lot of calls... think I'm gonna drop the hammer on those today... now.. the air cleaner. Got a match in mind, Sam ???

I did a big oval.. the 460 is no small engine..

what about filters... readily available ???
and I'm assuming it's polished alum ??? so you're polishing the filter cover but not the valve covers ??

haven't tried to replace filter yet.. only 250 miles.
second pic is the polished.. a/c, v/c, air cleaner, plug wire looms, and master cyl (all changed to chrome)

dang... I'm drooling. I have always loved your engine Sam. really nicely done. Where did you find that polished intake... I didn't think there were any for a 460 ??
so it's done... I'm looking for the chrome air cleaner...
next question browsing E-pay for valve cover gaskets...
Ford Racing gasket...78.00
Felpro gasket 35.00
what makes the Ford gasket worth twice as much as a Felpro ?? it couldn't be twice as good ??? I've never paid 80 bucks for a set of gaskets before !!!!!
I sure like that serpentine system you have... I just hope I have room for a radiator ! still waiting on the engines return to see how bad I should feel

looking at both ?? I really like the Racing covers better... and the wire looms (or lack of them) looks cleaner and less fussy to me.
thanks for the comparison pics that really helps see the difference. At the truck shows and such you see something on one truck and 20 minutes you see something else but it's hard to compare in my brain ...the images start to fade... like old camera film

the serpentine was hand built.. I want to change the power steering pump, but have to do some bracket massaging I think.. winter task.

got the chrome air cleaner and filter bookmarked... 15" right ??
things are coming together... usually about the time things start coming together...someone pulls the rear seal out of my elephant and I get covered in fertilizer... keep your fingers crossed that it's only neck deep

I have since changed the upper rad hose back to stainless (1st pic) and replaced the clamps on the hose to the heat shrink clamps to cut down on the visual distractions.. (hard when there is so much in that space)
and remember, I warned yah.. chrome shows dust.. little specks look like boulders!.. fun to clean.. not!
