No I don't have 200k yet, only 66,000 miles, but the 2000 I traded in had over 170k. I plan on keeping my '08 for a while cause Ford isn't going to make a V10 with that kind of power.
Love my truck, the gas mileage is just the cause of havin a big toy. You want good gas mileage, the Prius is a good ride. I tow my boat and hear all the time too that the price of gas, the price of gas. Thats just the price of havin fun in my opinion.
I get the mileage thing ALL the time at my work. It's my daily. But I only live 20 miles round trip from work so I throw that in with "plus it will pull anything I need to"

There is a Dodge Cummins down the street that says on the back window
I'm not so sure they are dumb, but most people who give me the mileage speech end up saying, "That's a real nice truck you have!"
Since my commuter car was totaled a few weeks ago, by a true moron, I've been driving the truck to work every day. This I don't like and to be honest is a complete waste of money and energy. I was actually saving money, but more importantly to me, mileage and wear a tear on my truck. But now thats all gone. So I "Loved it" then and "Hate it" now. The only thing that keeps this truck in my driveway is that fact that I got a great deal on a low mileage heavy duty truck. I know I could buy another high mileage beater but I like having the money in savings, and the other car was a freebie. If this truck stands in the way of a new house or anything for my kids then bye bye. I do use it for a part time business and I can downgrade if needed to a used XL single cab and get myself a car, although I hope that doesnt become the case
Love it, even though I didn't know anything about it before I bought it. I wasn't even a Ford fan(I know I was brought up that way). I just needed a 3/4 ton truck to tow my rv so I could go work in Wyoming in the oil feilds. It was the best truck I could find for the money at the time. But now I am a fan for life. It is even better now that I found FTE.
FTE is rad!!!!!

hope it doesnt become the case also. good luck!!!!
I might. I was actually originally looking for a Dodge V-10 and Im not at all a chrysler fan, But Im a fan of that 8.1 V-10. That motor has no issues. But I couldnt find one so I bought the Ford and Im happy with it. Its been a good truck.
Originally wanted a diesel Excursion to tow an RV. The used/repo lot didn't have one at the time. Showed me one with a V10 in it with 113K miles. Test drove it and could tell that the engine was well taken care of. They gave me a great price on it at the time when people were getting rid of large vehicles due to high gas prices.
As I learn more about it here on FTE, I realized that I made an excellent decision. And as a bonus, I discovered that mine came with 4.30 gears from the factory.
this is my second V10, first was in an 03 E450 class C 28' motorhome which I towed a 29' enclosed trailer behind. That set up scaled 21500 and moved out just fine and pulled hills great too, just hope is was not windy. I have had i 7.3 excursion, an 04 6.0 and 06 6.0, the 60's had issues so I went looking for another v10. Found this 08 and the price was right so I din't hesitate to do the deal. It sits a lot when not hauling my 42' enclosed gooseneck so she only has 53000 miles. Pretty sure I could own this truck for another ten years.
The only truck I would trade it on would be a 09 or 10 dark blue pearl CC LB 4x4 dually with black leather interior.
99,xxx miles on my '08 and still looks and runs like a new one. I'll take the 11-12 mpg over the problems with diesels. Been there, done that. The way cheaper maintenance costs on a V-10 more than makes up the difference on the higher mpg with some diesels. The 3-valve 6.8 and the Torqueshift tranny is a really good combination and relatively bullit proof according to all of the Ford dealers I have talk to. Wish that Ford still had the V-10 but I hear that the new gasser V-8 runs pretty good.

If memory serves me correctly, Ford still do make V10s. It's just not available in the F250/350. They're available in the commercial trucks and A class RVs?
