Looking Into a Suspension Lift .... Input?

Hey guys.

So I just got my new wheels and tires. I love them

Cooper Discoverer STT's 35-12.5-18
Moto Metal MO961's 18" , -24 offset

I successfully reached my goal of rubbing the same or less than my old set up...

315-75-16's
Ultra 164s - 16" - offset -7 ?

I barely rub a little but only when cranked completely left. Also, If I am turned hard enough and hit a big enough bump, I rub. This I do not like.

So I am thinking about getting a lift.

I believe I am runnin a 3" leveling kit right now and my goal is to make these 35's completely funcional with no rubbing but also not taking my truck to the sky. I dont want to lift so high that it will look goofy without 37"s.

Here is my truck right now. let me know what you guys think. If I get a 4" suspension lift, how much actual clearance will I gain? $1,700 is a lot to spend if I only gain 2" ..... Let me know what you think. Do I need something like this?

Riffraff Diesel: 4 inch Suspension System

or

Ford Super Duty 4.5 inch Hanger Lift Kit - Sky's Off-road Design

I am also looking into rebuilding a van turbo and installing tuned down 238/80 hybrids, so I am having trouble figuring out what to do first.

Your input is appreciated.

I like the way it looks right now and would just try to avoid the situations where the rubbing occurs. Spend the money on the performance mods so you can smoke those 35's!

Thanks! I like the way it looks too. And its really not bad as far as the rubbing goes. I'm just nit picky.

I think I will do the perf mods first. Most likely in this order...

- Van turbo purchase/rebuild/install (also change turbo pedistal O-rings!)

- Send 15 degree Hpop into terminator to have it modded.

- 238/80 hybrids

I think I may try to sell my other wheels ultra 164's & stockers so that I can get goin on the turbo. Word is I dont even need different tuning for the E99 van turbo so that is nice.

Input on lifts would still be appreciated though.

You try to do some trimming on the bumper or anywhere it hits?

I haven't tried that yet. I'll look more into where it is rubbing and see what I can come up with.

You first have to figure out where it is rubbing at. It could be the springs and it could be the bumper/valance. If its the valance its an easy fix just trim a little off it like I did. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/m...0&ref=gnr-prev
Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - JOHN2001's Album: Picjohn2001 - Picture I still dont know how to post actual pictures and not a link lol
Only your die hard Ford guys will notice. If its the spring I would look into 2 more rims with more off set, your truck looks good the way it sits. My truck rubs on the spring under a hard turn when I hit a bump and some time catches the fender flares.... Ticks me off!!
I bought my wife a set of STTs for her grand cherokee an they are awesome.
As far as your mod question I would do both jobs at the same time, itll gain you more access and make like a lot eaiser on you. Dont forget to have your tuner programmed for single shots.

I like it ! My question is,where did you find the front center caps for the wheels? I have the same wheel 18x10 and couldn't find the front with the cut out for the lock outs.

You're very Welcome! More of an "experience" to see the pics in the thread rather than jumping tabs.

Hey Thanks. I like yours too!

Moto Metal actually didnt offer a center cap for a manual locking hub.

I dont know if you can tell but I modified the center caps they gave me for the fronts. I like the way it turned out. I dremeled out a circle in the caps so that the hub lockers can come through. I then taped off and painted the little bit of chrome colored writing that was left from the moto metal lettering. They sit pretty dang flush and look like they were made like that if I can say so myself.

Do it! I highly recommend it.

Can you post a pic? My buddy has a 6 on his 2002 and it looks good but its just too big for my liking on my personal truck. But If thats what I have to do to have fully functional 35's then I might have to. I want somebody to have a custom lift shop that can add a little bit of lift at a time until it's exactly how you want it ha.
