I'm looking for a little help here. I have a 78 F250, 400m, w/ 6in lift that keeps blowing the u joint on the rear drive shaft right by the t case. The t case is married, pretty sure its a NP205, and there is no double cardan joint on the rear drive shaft and I am wondering if the driveshaft angle is too great at the t case. I've blown 3 u-joints in about 8 months. Granted they were cheap u-joints but that still seems premature. Heavy duty one goes in next.
Someone suggested I lower the t case 1/2" or so to lessen the angle on the joint but I'm not sure how to do that since the mount on the t case is not very far from the transmission mount.

are you going offroad, driving hard ect. that will kill U joints. plus the stock u joints are pretty wimpy units. ive only dropped 1 U joint and im using a 1330 at the t-case and a 1350 at the axle.
check the angle, you should be able to see it visually if the angle is to steep.
you can also try axle shims for the rear, that barely add lift, and angle it more towards the t-case. There should be a few different degrees to choose from.
The angle at the pumpkin is good, barely anything visable. The one at the transfer case is more severe. Would a double cardan help? Or do I drop the T case a bit. There looks like a spacer in there that could be removed. I'll post pics soon.
I use it mainly for cruising around, hauling lumber, and occasional off road use. More if i knew anyone in may area to off road with...

For the most vibration free setup, find a driveshaft off of a superduty many of these came with a forged 1350 cv and 1350 ujoint in the axle end, this would require a custom flange though, and most Likely some shortening which entailes a lathe and other less common shop tools. I run this setup on my camo job and it has not failed me 'yet' at roughly 12 inches over stock and sizeable meats.
