Some polish and a Mothers Powerball and it will be good as new
I would doubt that it is even close to being totaled. New rear diff, wheel, bumper, bedside, repair door bottom and cab corner, and replace blown airbags will be much less than the trucks value.
If it was mine, I would want them to total it too, but I doubt that they will.

Over 21K dollars worth of damage. The body shop is considering it a total loss, I have yet to hear from my insurance company.
MAke sure they add for frame straightening or at least checking it for no twist. Also front alignment and add in rental till they would get it back to you.
If they don't total it make sure the repair shop knows you will be a stickler for every detail (scratches, worn spots, dirty interior, over spray, ets)...after all it is a NEW truck.
If they don't total it I'd unload it within a year. The paint never holds up as well as the original especially in the wheel wells where rocks get kicked up. I know a guy with a 2010 gmc 2500 that was in flood water up to the steering wheel and the insurance company wouldn't total it. I couldn't believe it, the engine was full of water and everything.
Wow, That's terrible but as said, I'm glad everyone was ok.
One of my Co-workers had just bought a new black Chevy 1500 when he was rear ended at a red light. He didnt even have 5000 miles on it yet. He was hit very hard by another pickup and even with a 20K repair bill State Farm did not total it out, they fixed it, or so they say. It came back and looked horrible. They replaced the bed with one from a salvage yard.. along with everything else. The body shop painted the stuff you could see but never sprayed between the cab and bed so it was a different color (red).. They never took the bedliner out either to spray the inside of the bed. It was a terrible repair job.
He ended up hiring an attorney and having to file suit against the repair facility and the insurance company to get a resolution... They eventually agreed to total it out.. It really sucked for him.
He just finished paying off the difference between what the insurance paid off and what he owed. About 6000 difference.
Just be very vigilant and keep a close eye on the repairs if they dont total it.
so it was your fault, but you haven't said what exactly happened? If you did something dumb, don't sweat it but it would nice to know so someone else doesn't make the same mistake.
Sorry for no updates. Truck was a total loss, I ended up making $500.00. As much as I loved the truck, I decided to move in another direction. I will however have another F-150 someday. Maybe in a couple of years. Heres my new ride.
Well, I'm glad they totaled it out. I kind of figured they would looking at the damage. I'm also glad that everyone was okay. Well, sorry to see you didn't get another truck but I understand. And, Infiniti is a fantastic car....you'll enjoy that very much too.
