Well, I took my truck into the local diesel place to have it checked out. they replaced the fuel lines and pump which fixed up my fuel leak issues. They also replaced my ICP and CPS. Picked it up Friday afternoon, went and got new tires, and then drove out with some stuff to my girlfriends horse show. Everything was runnin good.
A few hours later we all got in the truck to go to diner and no start. No cranking at all, just one solid clunk when i turned the key to start, no tac movment. Batteries were fine as all electronics worked. About an hour later i came back and tried it again. It gace that solid clunk, then about 1 second after the starter came to life and she fired right up. Since then shes been running good as usual. Whats the deal?
One big clunk when the key is turned is usually a voltage issue. Sounds like it's time to clean the battery cables (don't forget the grounds and that each cable has 2 ends).
this sounds pretty dumb but i just bought a 97 f350 and the guy said he put a new starter on it but all it would do it clunk then nothing would happen. i messed with it for about an hour and it turned out the top bolt of the starter was loose and only would ground out sometimes so i tightned it and it is as good as new. starts every time.

It sounds like a starter or a starter solenoid to me ...
