Turning the key to the start position does not activate the starter motor. Running a jumper cable from the battery to the starter engages the starter (and will start and run if the ignition is switched on).
It acts as it would if I did not push the clutch in when trying to start it. Which might be a good place to start.
Can someone tell me how to locate and service (as well as the name of) that starter enabling device associated with stepping on the clutch?
I have a Chilton's on this truck but was unable to find any reference to it
Could also be the relay on the fender that the keyswitch, starter, and battery all run to. If you jump the terminals on that and the truck still starts... that could also be a possibility.
I found that starter solenoid on the inner passenger's fender. With the clutch pedal down I got 12v on the wire that should close the relay. I need to replace the solenoid. Thanks.
