3SPD Shifter removal
Do you remove the column shifter just by tapping out the single pin at the column? Is there a spring behind it thats going to go flying? And how about removing the black plastic shift ****, tap it off also?

That little pin is all there is. I just replaced all of that stuff. I destroyed the **** with a hammer because I wanted to paint the shaft and get a new ****. The pins tap right out no flying objects.

The **** was sold separately originally and is pressed on. Getting the old **** off can be a real b!tch. Usually it has to be broken off.
If the lever is soaked in boiling water for about 5 minutes, it can 'sometimes' be pulled off with pliers.
