is there a way to take off the plastic **** on the end of a automatic column shifter? how do you do it. i have tried pulling and twisting and i got nothing.
ya mine broke also, and i tried to take one off at a junk yard and couldent get it off.. i noticed on mine there is like ripples on the arm under the ****, i figured i can try and turn it to unlock it but i cant get it to turn.. oh well i guess there is really no hope.
If you want it off just so you can replace it then hit it with a B.F.H. (big friggen Hammer), try heating it with a heat gun, or use a Propane torch to heat the shaft. If yours is in great shape then go to the bone yard and find another one, hammer the pin out that holds it to the column and pull it take it home and crush the plastic in a vise and it will come off! If you want it off bad enough, you just have to be willing to break something!!
yeah ive pretty much figured that im going to have to end up doing that i just want to find the sift **** that i want first so it isnt screwed up for a long time. i was just hoping somone had a quick and easy trick b4 i went to all the work of breaking it off
