Sounds high at idle. Check with the engine off EBP and MAP should match or be real close. I will try remember what mine shows tonight, but I think it is around 10 psi over the boost pressure.

Thanks for the reply. I checked the exhaust backpressure with the engine off as you suggested and it is 23.38 lbs and the map shows 14.1lbs. Deffinally not close. Is it safe to assume that my EBS is bad?

Wouldnt it be convenient if we had someone on the forum who has the EBPS in stock and at a great price?

Ya, time for sensor.

I checked today and I was way off. Engine off mine matched exactly. Running down the road EBP stayed around around 2 psi higher than MAP. Boost didn't make a difference in the amount change between the two, just made them both read higher. The highest I saw was 26 psi and that was 12 psi of boost.

Thanks for the info I will be ordering a new sensor and tube. Glad I only paid 7k for the truck cus the maintenance seems to never end. I guess that's why it was so cheap! How do I become a supporter? You guys and gals have saved me so much money and time!! Time to give back to all!

As a Diesel Newbie, it is hard to figure out the acronyms for the various parts and it seems that it is assumed where these things are located on the truck.
Is there a book or web site that will help?

Please help me out here...

I have a 2003 F250 with the 7.3 engine and the P0470 code. Where is the Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor (EBPS) located? Also so where is the 'tube' that is associated with this that should be checked and cleaned. Pictures, etc.. would help a lot!!!

Thanks!!!!!

The EBPS(Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor) is located at the front of the engine just above the thermostat housing. Sometimes it can be cleaned due to a build up of soot since it receives pressure from the passenger's side exhaust manifold.

Here is a decent thread on common failure prevention stuff. Failure Prevention Thread
