You're not reading, waxy. I don't care or worry about what people think about cops - especially canadians. I'm past that. I only worry about what *I* did and how *I* worked.

So glad I fit your profile, though Have a nice day!

I congratulate canadianfordman on his tactic of running and whining to the moderator because I hurt his feelings. Poor baby ... so now maybe I'll be banned. I'll live.

Let me tell you something, sport ... I was a cop for 25 years, and the "insults" you heard are nothing compared to the crap I took all those years because of things OTHER cops have been alleged to have done. What should I have done - gone crying to my mommy that people didn't like me because I was a cop? No - I went about my job professionally and got on with my life. So don't presume to lecture me about people making insults.

For one thing, those insults, as you call them, were not directed at any individual, so you need to get a grip. Take a poll and see what the majority of the public thinks about car dealers sometime. You need to be loved or your feelings are hurt? Get over it.

My comment was my *opinion*, based on many years of dealing with auto dealerships - and still stands. If opinions like these are subject to being censored because of whiners ... have at it. Seems like I hear enough canadians insulting Americans these days. Tit for tat, n'est pa?

And it would be nice if the moderators had the guts to inform someone they have decided to censor their posts. Or whatever.
I would love to know what I said to deserve this. I did not say a thing to a moderator so you shouldn't assume. Second of all I would never say a thing about Americans as I am not that kind of person and I have nothing at all against them. Please clear this up for me because I am confused and do not like to be called what I was when I didn't do a thing.

As for being a Police Officer I have all the respect in the world for them so I have no idea why anyone would say anything bad about them. By chance do you have the wrong person?

Can someone please clear this up for me so I am not accused of wrong doing.

One last thing Bruce Liny, if you ever need a vehicle please DO NOT contact me, I bet you don't hear that from a car salesmen very often

Sure- I'M the one that reported it to the moderator. I thought that was obvious- I was insulted by the tone of the thread in regards to salespeople, because I contribute way too much time here to put up with stuff like that. Also, this site has strict guidelines about language, including the veiling of obscenities with symbols. So don't blame canadianfordman, blame me. Later, Bruce Liny apologized for what he said, and I'm grateful for that and sincerely accept it. Perhaps I was too quick in reporting it to the moderator, I should have waited for his response before reacting. So, I apologize for that- it certainly wasn't my intent to get anyone thrown off the forum.

It is my understanding that it is the service department that is the cash cow for the dealer, not the initial sale. I purchase the vehicle where I can get the best price and have it serviced where the best service is. If you don't live in a large city, you don't necessarily have these options. I have my Mercury fixed at my servicing Ford Dealer because they have the best service department. But I now have an established relationship with the service department and although I pay extra for oil changes, I get immediate resolution (when possible) to my concerns.

Build a relationship with you dealer, you will find that they will be willing to help you if you are not percieved as a PIA.

I had some difficult problems, but the discussion and resolution was not. I was reasonable and they were very reasonable as well.

Just my .02

If you get great service at a dealership why not buy the vehicle fromt there, I am sure they can give you the best deal or at least come close.

I have had a few new cars serviced at other dealers... They made a little notation at the top of the service order "NOD" which meant "Not Our Dealership". To me it was a signal to be given second rate service. I don't go to those dealerships anymore. But then I don't buy new vehicles anymore either, not because I can't, but because I won't, at any price.

The servicing dealer will get first crack at the deal, it is theirs to loose...
A service department knows that they have the first crack at brining in new customers, if they treat'em right they just might buy from us. They also know that treating a customer badly is a way to ensure that they will not get the sale.

If I get a great price from a dealer with bad service or a reputation for bad service I will not buy from them regardless of price. They need to be educated on what a successful dealer is.

Hopefully that clears up my dealer selection critieria.
