I wouldn't try pulling the "arm twisting" bit with them. First off, since you knew they were a shady company while working for them and you try to "blow the whistle" you stand a greater chance of having it come back to haunt you in the end. Second, I wouldn't count on any whistle blower protection since that usually only applies towards current employees who blow the whistle. Third, you're at least 50% at fault for buying a truck from a dealership you knew wasn't a good one. Last of all, the option of going down there during the busiest time and getting loud is probably the best option and get in contact with someone through Ford headquarters. Is this dealership Blue Oval Certified? If so, the higher up's at Ford won't appreciate one of their Blue Oval dealers treating someone so shady.

I sent in my complaint. The dealer dragged *** in responding. The used motor vehicle commission got suspicious now they are sending investigators to the dealership. My truck still sits with a busted tranny.

Different situation but I took Galphin Ford in North Hills,Ca to court without a lawyer but lots of research and plenty of paperwork and I won. They had to fix my truck and pay me monetary damages. The day after I filed a lien even though they said they would pay. I didn't care. I was so damn mad that they had made me resort to that. The lien will show on their business records for seven years. They did pay, but they lost my fleet contract and a few others because of it. We need to post the names of the dealers and then let them know that we have done it. File complaints with the better business bureau, consumer affairs, bureau of automotive repairs, everyone you can think of and then send them copies. Stuff like this will not change without concerted and continued effort on our parts.

When you start talking about soaping windows, placing flyers under wipers, and walking into a dealership holding a tire iron ... you are in most states talking about at least 3 misdemeanors and possibly a felony to boot. That is NOT a good idea.

If you feel so strongly about this, get a lawyer (if one will take the case. Personally - I doubt it) and work through the law.

I don't understand the comment about "payed sticker" on a vehicle that is 4 years old and had 75k miles, either. Something does not compute in this story.

My suggestion would be to get the tranny rebuilt for $900 or so and move on before you wind up spending some time in the slammer.

Not all dealers are scoundrels, but there are enough that are to make it seem like they all are.A friend of mine owns a Durango he purchased new,he got the extended 100,000 mile warranty at the time of purchase and always had all his service and repairs done at the same dealer.A few months back at 105,000 + miles the trans suffered a major melt down.He had it towed to the dealer to check it out. He and they knew it was out of warranty, they asked him to leave it there and they'd see what they could do for him. They repaired it at no charge. He'd never ranted at the service writers or techs when he had other work done there in the past and I guess they must've appreciated him and his business and took good care of him. He's now sold on Mopars for life,he went back there and bought his daughter a new Jeep to take to college and when it's time to say adios to his truck he'll buy another new one there.

I've heard of GM truck tranny's going out at 40,000 and GM offering to pick up the tab for a new tranny. Good luck!

Bruce, I totally agree with your last post. Something does not add up.

2003Expy, the dealer you talk about are fewer than few and far between.
On the sales side, they want to squeeze every penny they can out of you. Nobody is your friend in that business.
On the service side, they could care less about who you are or if you are a loyal customer. It is very rare that a dealer or manufacturer will pick up the tab on a problem that is out of warranty. They just want your money. After all that is why they are in business --> to maximze profits!
That is why you are "in business" for your self when it comes time buy a car --> you want to pay the least, keep the most and maximize your "profits"!

I get a kick out of how much people think dealerships make off of vehicles. Look at the big picture, if you bought a vehicle for invoice which was $40,000, based on a 3% holdback that works out to $1200 profit.

Let me ask you this, if there was a landscaping company who had this type of mark up and they charged $100 an hour this company would have to work about 13 hours a day everyday of the month (assuming theres 31 days in a month) just to make $1200. How does this sound to you?

I bet a low percentage of cars are sold at invoice. My point is that in my experience, dealerships don't care about the customer, only the sale. If I walked into a dealership to buy a car, they wouldn't offer it to me at invoice, it takes me hours upon hours of frustrating games to get the price down.

Not the same thing. The dealership didn't spend the actual number of hours to build the $40,000 car. They merely unloaded off of the truck, cleaned it and parked it on their lot. I'm guessing the actual man hours prepping a car for sale is less than 2.

I do not feel sorry for dealerships. All of the ones here in SoCal are in pretty fancy buildings, meaning they must be making a boat load of money somewhere.

In any line of business, if I walk away happy, meaning I feel like I got my money's worth, I am a repeat customer and I will tell others. If I felt like I've been screwed, I will also tell others. And I don't expect anything for free. I am willing to pony up the extra $$ for quality.

FWIW and IMO, the dealer is NOT responsible for this thread starter's problem.

1956MarkII and canadianfordman,
You guys may be the expection. I wish there were more like you. And you are right, you earn no money for being on this forum, BUT you DO gain an invaluable and unique feedback and insight from consumers (us) to help you in your job. Smart. I wish more salepeople would do the same. We are the ones buying, listen to us!
Everybody has a right to his/her opinion. My opinion about dealerships is derived by my personal experience, both as a customer in sales and service. I've known about dealerships reputations, but I ignore them and have drawn my own conclusions, which are consistant with the reputation.
I rarely walk away from a dealership happy and I am fairly easy going.
We DO appreciate your help!

Thank you very much for your input. It is nice to get the regognition that we are not like most salespeople, it just gets very frusterating when someone (not you) treats us with very little respect before he or she even gets to know us and how we do business. I love reading all of these threads even though it frustrates the heck out of me because I can learn from it, after all isn't that what we are all here for.

How nice to see that censorship is alive and well on this forum!

I congratulate canadianfordman on his tactic of running and whining to the moderator because I hurt his feelings. Poor baby ... so now maybe I'll be banned. I'll live.

Let me tell you something, sport ... I was a cop for 25 years, and the "insults" you heard are nothing compared to the crap I took all those years because of things OTHER cops have been alleged to have done. What should I have done - gone crying to my mommy that people didn't like me because I was a cop? No - I went about my job professionally and got on with my life. So don't presume to lecture me about people making insults.

For one thing, those insults, as you call them, were not directed at any individual, so you need to get a grip. Take a poll and see what the majority of the public thinks about car dealers sometime. You need to be loved or your feelings are hurt? Get over it.

My comment was my *opinion*, based on many years of dealing with auto dealerships - and still stands. If opinions like these are subject to being censored because of whiners ... have at it. Seems like I hear enough canadians insulting Americans these days. Tit for tat, n'est pa?

And it would be nice if the moderators had the guts to inform someone they have decided to censor their posts. Or whatever.

I'd say that post fit the "cop" stereotype real nicely. So hard done by. Thanks for reinforcing my "opinion" of cops.

There was a thread here not to long ago on how people felt about cops, you may want to check that out there sport before you spout off about opinion polls.
