1987 f150 302 weird problem
sup guys i got a 1987 f150 302 2wd 4 speed efi;
alright so i noticed when idling the rpms dropping from about normal idle (800rpm) to about 300-400rpm and the rpms would just go up and down between those to. but the longer it runs the worse it gets, and it will eventually just drop so low it would stall out. but when driving it would run just fine, and when i put it in neutral while coasting the rpms would drop up and down like before. also sometimes when idling it would idle fine at 800rpm for a little while.
well i was driving the other day and had to stop at a stop light, well while accelerating i noticed a huge hesitation and it seemed like it didn't want to move, but i got it up to about 55 mph and from there the engine seemed to have no gas givin to it and eventually turned off. i try turning it on, and no luck. gave it about 10-20 mins to chill, tried starting it up and got it to start but i had to keep pumping the gas pedal and right when i let off the gas pedal it would just idle real low and eventually turn off.
so that leads me to believe it could be the fuel pump? MAYBE the filter? but i dont think so i just put in a brand new filter about 2 months ago. how bout the fuel injectors? its the first year they came out with fuel injectors for the truck so i wouldnt be suprised if they were messed up
what do you guys think? unfortunately i had to leave her sitting at a gas station all night so im ready to get her runnin again!!!! all help appreciated!!!!
