not the same tranny for sure. 351m,400,429 and 460 share the same bellhousing bolt patern.

300 to 351M/400

If I'm not mistaken, the motor mount perches (that attach to frame) are different also, and would require different ones for a 302/351w swap, however the bellhousing would work for either of these, or if you're lucky to find a 351c, even a 2v headed one, would bolt to the tranny. On the plus side, a 351c is going to weigh less than the 351m/400, or you could investigate a clevor swap. Once that problem is solved(whatever you finally decide) the next thing would be to make sure your radiator is keeping the larger displacement engine cool.

The six makes almost as much power as a stock 351m, so you would be going through a lot of effort for not much gain.

A massaged 351w would be worth the effort imo.

I'd keep the 6 personally and beef it up.The 300 is a very good engine.
