First off this is a great forum with tons of info. I hate to say but I feel like a major troll. Here is my general info: 1990 F150 with a 351 and a E40D transmission. The question I have is I am getting a error code 63 (TPS circuit has intermittently failed below minimum 0.6 volts) in the CM but not with KOEO. I have used a VOM to verify my voltages on the TPS, which are 1v to 4.5v full throttle and seem to transition smooth. I have also cleared the codes, drove the truck and checked them again and same error returns. I intend to change my TPS this weekend anyway. I was just wondering if their might be anything else that would throw or cause that code. I just hate making multiple trips to the parts store. Thanks for any help.
Ford Fuel Injection » Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Here is a link to a good article on the TPS. Great info there on all the other sensors as well and on codes (from list on right of page).
From reading a post by another member, rla2005, it might be worth looking for corrosion in the plug connector to the TPS.
Hopefully some of the experts will give an opinion soon.
Thanks for your reply. I have seen that site and its great. To be honest before I started reading here I thought TPS was something my wife got once a month. I am thinking that the sensor is my issue. I have checked and cleaned my connections also. But being new to repairing my own truck I was just wondering if there might be something else I might missed or could lead to that code.
Also here are a few other links that I have found that have helped me a lot if anyone else is looking for info.
I had issues with my TPS on my 1990 F150 with the 302 V8 and the E4OD, it may or may not help you, but it may help identify if the TPS is the cause, here's my resolution post.
