Well I'm a john deere service tech so I'm pretty good at working on stuff. What oil is best to run in the manuals?

Lol. I found a diagram and assembly and dissassembly of the zf6 and I'm going to check to detent plunger and spring and the detent ball and spring and see if either of those are messed up.

What is the difference between e99 and late 99 unit bearings? Also when did they change?

My 6 speed shift between L and R quite easy, but going from L to 1 is always a challenge. From what I hear on this forum it is pretty common.

My shift for low to first is fine its just getting the shifter to move all the way to the left to use low and reverse.

The differences between E99 and L99 unit bearings are a few different mesurments, rotor hat height, and I think the wheel stud pattern spacing.

Ok thx. I do not like the unit bearings I would eventually like to convert it back to the old style spindle and bearings. Has anyone done that.

The L99 unit bearing has a thicker rotor flange (I think the E99 is 10mm and the L99 is 13mm). the lug pattern is the same. and you can switch from the early to late 99 by getting L99 rotors with your L99 unit bearings. you can easily tell if you have a E99 or a L99 unit bearing by looking at your hubs. the E99 hubs sit flush with the lugcover and the L99 should be recesed a little.

I found that the L99 unit bearings are cheaper and easier to find.
