Injector seals in!!

I did it last night, got my order from riffraff and everything went great, will be ordering from them again

so anyway all 8 alliant injector seals are on, 4 new glow plugs under passenger vc as prev. maint.

drove the truck after words and put about 50 soft miles on it, well this morning was its first cold start since and it was only 60 degrees so not cold at all, I ran my glow plugs and it fired off with ofcourse a puff a blue smoke and then was hazing blue for a minute or two, was bucking up past 2100rpm

so I took it and ran the **** out of it and put about 40 hard miles on it, went to 3k rpm more than a few times, hopefully all the air and crap is out now, the truck did get a fresh oil change of 1540 rotella with the injector seals

if it keeps on smoking is that my turbo going out? theres no way the rings are shot

Is there any oil in the tail pipe or the connections of the exhaust?

no oil in tailpipe, turbo shaft didnt seems to have excessive play where its touching the housing

intercooler boots had a bunch of oil in them, I would like to do a ccv mod to get rid of this

So if there's no oil in the pipe that means my turbo could still be good?

No.

If the compressor wheel is touching the housing that is excessive play and the turbo will go. It's just a matter of time. The bearing seal is probably leaking now but not bad enough to leave oil in the exhaust. The leak is so small now that the oil is being burned by the hot exhaust gases and that might be the cause of the smoke. As the exhaust gets hotter the smoke turns to haze because it getting more fully burned.

sorry forgive my spelling I miss typed that, I meant to say the wheel was not touching the housing, could it still be burning oil like you say though without the play in the shaft

Glad it's not touching the housing.

Hard to say if the bearing seal is leaking without shaft play. If you start seeing wet oil at the end of the tail pipe that would be an indicator. Keep an eye out for that.

I don't think a puff of smoke at a 45 degree start is abnormal. As long as it clears up in few seconds, I wouldn't be concerned.

Not sure if I can agree with that, I had a 2004 6.0 stroke and that truck never smoked no matter how cold it was

Had a 93 f450 with 7.3 IDI and that truck never smoked either, even when it was in single digits and I never plugged it in

Maybe im just not used to this engine, but ill check the oil in a few more hundred miles and see if its still eating it like candy

Plus I have a issue when im coming to a stop and push in the clutch the rpms drop down to low and the truck catches itself and brings them back up to proper idle, not sure if the smoke and this is related, maybe its a fuel pressure problem? Im not sure I still need to change my oil contaminated fuel filter just have to get the ford cap from the dealer

Im starting to get pissed off now, just started the truck for the first time today, about 55 outside, glowed and fired, puffed blue clouds while I let it warm up, smoke didn't go away for like 3 minutes, this isn't just a normal "oh its cold so its smoking" what can I start checking besides the injector o rings, it has to be something else because it hasn't got better or worse with me doing the o rings

Im honestly thinking about trading this and getting another, not sure but I just don't have the time or money to fart around with it
