Hey Roentgeep, when you drip the hole for the egt's. How do you keep the metal shavings from going into the turbo when drilling? I take it you tap the manifold also and thread it in? That is the exhaust manifold in the picture right?

There are some opinions about the metal shavings:
Some people recommend to use first small drills and go up.
Others uses grease when drilling
other uses both methods.

I simply drill with the exact drill without any grease, the reason: the metal shavings are bigger and fall down during drilling, the grease goes inside the manifold and retain the shavings there. At the end of the drilling and tapping I just use a shop vac and a little magnet to get out the more possible the metal shavings. The drilling seems to be difficult, but was very easy.

You have to tap it. Just be sure what is the size of the probe threads because could be 1/4" or 1/8" NPT, all depends of the probe (gauge) brand. and dont go to far with the tap, just enougth, making some tests before finish it because its NPT

Yep, in the manifold just before the flange where the up pipe connects. Once you crawl under there and look you'll see there's a nice spot on the manifold to drill your hole.
Have you ever used a tap before? There's a right and a wrong way to do it. Also be sure you don't run the tap in too far, the threads are tapered and if you run the tap all the way in your fitting may not tighten down.

Does anyone have pictures of the 6.0 tranny cooler mod on a 7.3 Excursion, or SD?
I am considering getting the kit from John Wood and want to know how much work it would be. Ford just quoted me $1250.00 to do it and a tranny flush...... WOW.....
My 2002 Excursion has 172K on the clock with the original tranny. No issues, but I am picking up a 10K max load weight travel trailer in a month and want to make sure the tranny stays as cool as possible.
Thanks in advance.
Pat
