Fuel Lines Question

A few days ago I rebuilt my fuel bowl. I have since sprung a leak on the top of those two fuel lines (the picture is for show. That is before the new sleeves).

If the sleeve is installed improperly can this cause a leak? I undid the line and re attached it and tried it again. Still leaked. Also, it seems that the leaky line has more play in it that the adjacent one. It can be moved in and out about 1/4 inch or so I'd say. The other one does not move very much, just slight flexing. How much movement is normal?

I have ordered a new sleeve for it.

Are you sure you got all of the old sleeve parts out before you installed the new one? Try turning the new sleeve around, it might seal better this time (after you check to see if there are any pieces hiding in the compression nut).

Good luck.
BTW...good choice to go for a total fuel bowl rebuild. Those sleeves look like toast.

Its very possible that there is a small bit of old sleeve in there. I dont think I checked. I will definitely do that when the new sleeves come. They come as a pack of two, and I only need one, which leaves me an extra to do the passenger side head if I ever get back there.

Heres a shot of most of the sleeves. They were TOAST! Glad I did the whole thing too

One of my sleeves was split into two pieces...amazing that it wasn't leaking. :-)
I had to use a dental pic to get it out. Sounds like you may have the same issue. If you need to get back on the road, you can probably just turn the new sleeve around and try again. I have done that before with 100% success.

Just an FYI...

I'm road worthy. Just with a slow leak. I have class tomorrow, so other than the 4 miles to school and 4 miles back, no driving for me. The new sleeve should be here Thursday or Friday, depending on when I placed the order. I cant remember.

Anyway, I have a dentists pic tool also. I used it to remove suborn orings during the rebuild. I'll scrape away any old sleeve when the new ones come in.
