My name is John. Just picked up my 96 F250 3 weeks ago and I love it. Anyway a little about me I a welder/fabricator. I work for Industrial Diesel Manufacturing and Service. We build Gas and Oil well equipment.
I've always wanted the 90's model ford love the body style and well came across a deal that was way to good to pass up.
Anyway here she is. Needs a bit of work But I like her nun the less
well, there's no reason why you shouldn't get many miles outta 'er. the 7.3's are no hotrods but they do got power where it's needed. those body styles are one of the nicest that ford made!

wanna trade? haha
Yeah its got power. I used to run a performce shop.specialized in Forced induction primarily turbos.
Soooo yeah gonna need more
power. Kinda thinking it may need twins. But I dont know. First the lift, the body and the interior. Then I'll worry about that.
If the auto has not been modded its a E4OD. I recommend some servicing there. Filter change and then a flush, If there are any metals in the pan pull and change the AT cooler upfront. If your doing any hauling/towing keep her out of OD unless you have a Tranny Temp Gauge installed in the service port. 220 is a good rule of thumb to keep her under. Although the Hi Temp trouble code does not set till 270 - OUCH. Most issues are tranny over temp since it tows well in cruse most dont know that the tranny is cooking until its too late. (no gauge)
Do you know where the truck is from-- you know Texas - East coast etc?

Well I got it out of Oklahoma. But before that I have no idea. I have a gauge. It besides the speedometer is the only one that works :/ So yeah I'm trying to track down 2 shorts now Ones that come off of fuses 16 and 17. 16 I'm not so worried about but 17 there's allot of crap there that's not working. Not just my gauges. So trying to get the dash out and trace it and find the short. 16 should be pretty easy since it's just the cigarette lighter and the Data Link.
Anyone wanna help. I have no problem wiring the crap but tracking it down what a bitch
You got any cab leaks? There is a GEM attached to the fuse panel back and it it gets wet it can cause all sorts of problems. It can even drain the bat. Fuse 17 is a popular attachment point for after market gauges

I did find this when I pulled out the dash. To chase the wiring. Notice the yellow and the red w/green have been rubbed through. This is where the harness comes through the firewall and takes a sharp turn past the edge of the mounting point for the steering column support.
I wrapped the wires and split a piece of 3/8 fuel line to cover that edge so I won't happen again
Yeah just have to figure out what the 3 pin plug on the top left of the column is its the source of another short. Thinking it has something to do with the cruise and the switch to turn off the overdrive. Neither of them work
