Acceleration Noise

I have a strange noise when im tring to gain speed, it sounds like its right around the tranny area. But it only happens when im tring to gain speed, im wondering if its not an exhaust leak? maybe?. But its really annoying and i cant find a hole in the exhaust. But its the only thing i can think of.

Thanks

Mine is starting to develop a noise as well on the driver side under acceleration. Seems to be coming from the exhaust manifold which is common on the V10.

As fishing_uncle suggests...If you have a V10 (not sure)...I would examine all of the exhaust manifold studs to make sure they are there and not "snapped"...it is a very common thing with V10 exhaust manifold studs...the sound only appears under acceleration...

there are fixes for snapped studs...if that is your problem...simply do a search on here for them.

Good luck and let us know if that is what is going on.

Joe.

If it is a powerstroke that sound you hear is just the efficient turbo making more power.

I recently have had a few "noises" emanating from the same area. I have found 2 things, detonation due to low octane fuel, bumped to premium and no more noise under acceleration.

The inspection plate on the trans rattles like a mother under load. Removed, cleaned and applied a small bead of black rtv, Let it dry and reinstalled. All better.

I have yet to find any exhaust leak due to broken studs.

Good luck.
