ISSUE
Some vehicles may exhibit a "miss" sound from the exhaust. This may be caused by the design of the exhaust Y-pipe which can cause a "miss" like sound known as impingement.
ACTION
Replace the Y-pipe with updated design to reduce "miss" sound and update the calibration of the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
You would have noticed that from new right? Most small exhaust leaks you will hear upon accelleration only. With your foot on the brake put in gear and give a little gas to see if you hear a leak when cold. Most times the leak will get better, quieter when hot. Your year is about ripe for the common manifold issue's mentioned above. Many guy's with 99 or 00's have had leaks.
I can't comment on the above y pipe issue as I wasn't around when that was going on..
anyone have any more info on this? i really want to figure this noise out, according to the tsb that i have it shows this to be covered under the emissions warrenty. i just need to make sure i am talking about the same noise as the tsb so i dont waste my time bringing it to the dealer. like i said i didnt see any noticable exhaust leak (doesnt really sound like an exhaust leak) more like a constant noise, not on off an exhaust leak would be, thanks in advance
