AC delete

Hello, I hope everyone has been doing well. Ok...so money is tight and my A/C went out. I heard about a pulley to delete the A/C unit and use a shorter belt. My question is.... do I need to completely remove the compressor or can I leave it in place? Hoping to get by with as little cost as possible. Thanks for the input.

Pretty sure you can get the A/C delete pulley pictured above at most auto part stores. I thought I had a spare A/C compressor, but I just checked and couldn't find it.
