Pulling to the left. First mechanic replaces upper and lower ball joints passenger side. He doesn't have the machine to align.
Second mech. Aligns by the numbers. Still pulls left. Says needs cambers, can't do the job they say and this is AAA shop.
Ford Dealer, 5 hours later, new cambers rotated new tires to the front, gives it back. Not even 1/4 mile down the road it pulls left (how in the %$#@ can they return your truck like that?
Back in the shop today. Dealer says the numbers are right one and they have to charge a diagnosis fee to find the problem.....
Is this a matter of replace and see? Anyone with this experience. Truck had been running true but started pulling before replacement of ball joints. Thanks for any input (190,000 miles Inline 6 would like to keep it)
I did fea's for years. 99% of the time a pull is caused by the tires. Cross the fronts left to right and see what happens. Most likely it will pull right and it may not pull at all.
Front rubber brake lines need replaced. they're hanging up. Jack the truck up, roll the tire, then apply the brake. release the brake, and roll the tire again, I bet it don't want to roll.
Much obliged to all.
The dealer, first time that I've used them, Ed Bamba...they told me that might be it...wasn't.
bashby....they did that with all the combinations possible, note new tires.
dustybumpers...they told me it wasn't in the brakes, they mention calipers hanging up.
Haven't picked the truck up yet, they had it till closing.
They told me they ended up over adjusting to make up the difference, or went outside the parameters a little to align it. Also, I've been using a Suicide handle or some call it a Brody and it was at the 8 o'clock position, its a little heavy, they said that was part of the steering to the left...hmmmm.
It does have 190,000 miles on it but I'm sure there are plenty of much older trucks out there that don't have this issue. Not sure if the "over adjustment" is a professional job coming from a Ford Truck dealer.
Inline 6, motor is origional, replaced 1 pushrod and rocker arm, and a water pump. oil is changed every 3,000 miles, antifreeze every 3 years. I have done this ever since the truck was new. I'm going to pull it this winter, and freshen it up, the oil pressure has dropped some in the last 6 months.
much obliged to ya, that's great incentive to keep up with my present truck of which I'm 30 minutes early, sitting here at the dealership service department waiting for them to open. I've got extra keys with me and thought about driving off and just call in and give them the card over the phone but I'm sure that wouldn't go over very well.
