Clunking upon brake app????

Fathers 00 F250SD SC truck will make an audible "clunk" ,once, when he hits the brakes after not using them for a short amount of time. If he immediately hits the brake again it will not do it. He thinks it is from the left front, when I heard it while riding it sounded like left front. My first thought was a caliper but the local tire shop said they were fine.(not loose). Anybody else experience this?

I had the same thing happen to me. My problem turned out to be worn ball joints. You might want to have them checked.

anyone know what a typical shop would charge for the part and the labor on a ball joint replacement?

Mine was 235.00 per side for parts and labor. I don't know if that was a good or bad price, I didn't have a chance to get different quotes at the time.
