i am looking to buy a new ford f-250 with the 6.7L and was wondering if there was any major issues with the new trucks at all.(engine, trans, sensors, so on...) also wondering if anyone on here has done the DPF,DEF emissions delete and what gains you have seen from this. also does it void any warranty? plan on lifting the new truck too prolly 4-6 inches so any insight on new truck owners with lifts and other mods please chime in. also been reading on here what is the lockpick mod??
Our 6.7L just passed 90k in 7 months towing 15k daily!
We purchased a 2011 Ford F350 Crew Cab Lariat 4x4 on 03/11 and have been happy with it. Truck runs a little over 400 miles per day towing 15k lbs, just hit 90k miles in 7 months.
Only two issues we had
1. @ 25k miles the Continental Conti Trac tires were wasted from towing, right down to cords. Ford would not offer any assistance with it, so we purchased 2 Michelin LTX M/S2'S, problem solved tires are fine now. Ford has since switched over to the Michelin's anyway, due to all the complaints with Continental tires. They may be great tires for a luxury car, but have no business on a heavy duty truck. We had the Michelin's on our 05 F250 and got 70-80k towing out of them, so no complaints with Michelin and the price is the same on both tires.
2. @80k miles A/C Stopped working, turned out to be a sensor between the compressor and condensor and my dealer got Ford to warranty it as good will.
Just keep reading though this site and you will find issues but I don't think anyone here will say that there is a pattern to them, just isolated equipment malfunctions or failures.
There is a chance that you could wind up with a truck that has a bad sensor or a glitchy transmission. Most of us are driving our trucks everyday looking for something to go wrong but nothing yet. I suppose at this point that the gasser would be more likely to not have a random issue come out of nowhere. But I am referring to a 1 in 1,000 possibility.
