I'm a truck guy hoping you van gurus can help me out. Got a 87 F-350 with a 460 I wanna upgrade to hydroboost, saginaw PS pump(tear drop shapped), serpintine belt and a 3G alternator. You can see my thread here; https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...lternator.html
I've come here cause I have read in other threads that a fair number of vans came with the parts I need and few trucks did, so I'll likely need to pull parts from a van. So here's the question, what vans would have a 460 with a saginaw PS pump and a 3G alt? I would think it a fair assumption that the later I go more likely to have a 3G, but seams scattered on which had the saginaw PS pump?
I can't answer you for sure, but my 79 came with a sag n a 460...but couldn't u always get that "heavy duty"pump that bolrs in place of the stock ford junk pump? (Its a cardone sag pump with a bracket bolted to it)

It seams there are many ways to get the saginaw pump attached and they seamed to be rather scattered among many ford vehicles. I think I can be rather confident that a trip to a yard or two will net me at least one, but likely with a V pully. My goal here is to swap all my access brackets, PS pump, Alt, and WP pulley with a later serpintine setup and get it all in one with the saginaw pump. Then put it all together doing the hydroboost at the same time. Killing for me 4 birds with one stone, weak and inconsistant breaks, squealing belts, whinning PS pump, and a weak alternator.
Got ya, just keep in mind, a "V"belt water pump is not compatible with a serp set up. It will spin in opposite direction than it should...
I have been told otherwise, but that makes more sense, if need be I'll change the water pump to. I'll find out when I can hit the yards and see what's out there. I need to work on my WP anyway the bypass hose is leaking. OK 5 birds, lol
