My E40D has been in the truck for 20 years with little to no problems so I can't complain. The only reason I was unhappy about it being an E40D is because the mass air conversion kit I was looking at from Dunn-Rite performance is $750 for AOD and $1,250 with the transmission controler for the E40D. I can't bring myself to spend $1,250 on a mass air swap.

Why dont you get the wiring harness and computer out of a 94-96 junk bronco or f150 with the 5.0.? They are mass air and most came with the E4OD.

That is ridiculous. I doubt anyone in here has a F150 that is producing 750ft/lbs of torque, Encho.

My 95 maf has a 4r70w......and there is no way any stock transmission is rated for 1000 lbs of torque....or even 750 for that matter. Factory eec programming from Ford on my 4r70w has 510 ft lbs loaded in the transmission eec tables as maximum torque for a 1-2 shift. I would think some of the other tranny's would be in the same range.

You mean Trans right?

Also if you put the wrong flex-plate on the engine it will bust the pump

....The 4R70W is not the same as an AODE , there both based of the AOD but computer controled , the 4R70W has a stronger input shaft and the wide ratio gear sets , lower 1st and 2nd gear , they can be used in the AOD to make it better , i don't think the AODE was offered in the trucks....

Yeah of course. It is stupid to put the same trans for a car (AODE) in a truck. What I should have said was The AODE, and 4R70W have the same housing and pan.

When I built my AOD I put the Kevlar band and some other smaller things to try a beef it up some, If it does goes out I plan to use some parts out of a 4R70W to beef it up more. (I heard some parts were interchangeable from the 4R70W/AODE to the AOD)

You're in the wrong forum. Your truck is a Generation 10 with an Essex V6 that was never offered in the Gen 7-8-9 trucks.

And I'll say NO to swapping that AODE into your truck. You will need the correct trans so the computer can control it properly. Look in your door jamb to see if the transmission listed on the sticker is code U - will be a 4R70W.

Also, you should be posting in the Newer Light duty trucks, 1997 to 2003 F150 for info. Link below; your Ford and our Fords only have the Blue Oval emblem in common.
