I am seriously considering an airbag suspension conversion on my 95 f250hd ext cab long box pick up - I dont neccessarily want to lift the suspension much maybe 2" max and wondered if I could ditch the front leaf springs or just go down to 1 each side maybe? I rarely carry any heavy weights and could always bump the air pressure up if I do need to carry anything heavy - the rears wont be a problem as I can take a leaf or two out.
Anybody know of some softer leaves that might fit or of anyone who has gone down the air bag route? btw its a dana50 ttb front axle
Thanks
Jim
Sell/trade it in on an F150. This is the third or so thread within the past month about the ride quality of the F250's. They ride hard for a reason, they were designed to haul and pull. Removing leaves isn't the best idea IMO, it places more stress on the remaining ones. Tire pressure can't take the place of what's actually supporting the load- the springs.
Don't do airbag suspension, if you do it wrong (read as CHEAP) itll ride just as rough. If you can't stand the ride and don't need the capabilities, then time for a different truck IMO
I loved my '89 F150 before I replaced all 4 shocks. They were all original, and had all leaked out, so basically had no shocks, and it rode to awesome, like a big 70's Lincoln, very bouncy and such a great ride
Now rides like a truck again, but still nice compared to my Diesel 4x4 F250!
Thanks Guys
I guess I will leave her alone for now - the highways guys have graded the roads around our way this last year and it aint so bad after all.
Once I finish construction work on our place then I will probably stick a lift kit on her and maybe that might be a little softer.
Cheers
Jim
