i got a 90 f150 with a motor that didnt come factory. casting codes told me 1986 block witch makes sense cause 86 control mod was on ,it has blue chip.bought new one, had to rewire cause previous owner did a cut and tape job. got it to crank but burned up coil pack after about 20 minutes. i rewired it put new coil on and had the control mod. tested still good. tried to crank it and burned another coil up. does anyone know exactly where the red and white wires go and where if at all the ballast resistor wire would be or look look like
this ignition control module has red, white, green, orange, purple, black wires.the black, orange and purple go to pick up coil in the distributor.i believe green goes to negative(-) post on the coil.im having problems getting the rest of them right
The resistor goes in the line for the coil. By 1990, I am not sure they still had the older style harness incorporated into the truck's wiring. If you have 12v to the coil when it's running, that's too much, go buy a Chrysler type resistor and put it in the coil + line.
