I have tried everything on my 1996 f250 7.3L nothing seems to help. it starts right up but idles real rough and if you hold the throttle to the floor it will gradually pickup rpmbut when driving it dosent have enough power to get out of third gear. i need help

 

Have you checked fuel pressure?

Unplug the electrical connection on the MAP sensor and see if that helps

 

hey thanks for the fast response, i unplugged the map and it helped alot but it still has some room for improvment. could you think of anything else it might be?

 

If it helped then your MAP sensor is bad.

Did you check fuel pressure?

You can check with a tire gauge. On the driver side of the fuel bowl you will see what look like the top of a valve stem check it there you want over 50psi.

How old is the fuel filter?

 

the fuel pressure at idle was between 50 and 60 psi but at wot it dropped down to around 30 and 40 psi

 

oh and the fuel filter has recently been changed

 

Both exhaust manifolds hot?
Sounds like you are running on only 1 bank.

 

Make sure the MAP tube isn't just plugged or dry rotted
