I believe those are for the later trucks as i worked on a friend's 90's truck that had them. Didn't try swapping them to my truck, but it looked like they would fit. And/or the black piece might be taken off and replaced with the washer from your bolt. But, those are guesses as I do not know.
Those are not correct. Same thing came up when I went to Napa. I replaced both of mine with dusty parts from the farm store. Apparently 80's parts are not a hot commodity
I don't know. If you could take that piece off it, it would appear correct. I had the same idea and thought I was given the same one but I was given a different one and your (removing the black thing) idea was also mine but it wasn't feasible on mine. Looks good on yours though, give it a shot.
The ones on the '93 truck my friend has would come off. I do believe you'll need the washer from your current striker bolt, and some of those I've played with come off fairly easily and some don't. I don't know why that is, but maybe you'll get lucky.
Having said that, I'm not sure what the purpose is of the black piece. My guess, given the angle it has in the part by the head of the bolt is that it is supposed to fit into the angle of the latch and support the door. Are our latches different than the later ones? Would these bolts work on ours?
While not exactly the same as the original, they work just fine. LMC truck shows the same door striker from 80-96. I've got two of these on my truck and no problems. The flat vertical portion goes toward the cab, and the flat portion keeps stuff (me) from catching on it when I get out. A cutoff wheel and a grinder might make it look original, but as it sits in the picture, its very functional and should work, no problem.

That's good to know. And, having caught my pocket on the striker on my truck I can see the advantage. That's probably why they were redesigned. Thanks!
My doors rattled like hell when I got my first truck a couple years ago. I looked closer and there was no plastic.
Just happened to have some pex tubing laying around and I cut a slit on it, lubed it with epoxy and fitted it over the pin, and there they sit a couple years later
You can get a real small section of it instead of a role in the pex section of your local hardware store if cost is a concern.
I never even looked back, could I have got a tool and taken the pin out and slid my piece of pex on over the pin then reassembled to make it a little nice looking and with less potential for breaking free?

Thats nice to know. Thanks
Will try it with the black peice and hope it works
