Mitre saw bench question...
I received a Makita 10" mitre saw as a gift and I'm considering tables/stands at the moment. I don't have a dedicated workshop...I'll be using it either in the garage or on the back deck (depending on the project).
I'd like a table/stand that's portable. I'm currently thinking of either building a wooden bench or just picking up something like this. I don't have a lot of spare time, so I'd rather not spend what little free time I have (when I could be working on a project) building a bench. That's why I'm leaning towards something like this. Thoughts?
The stand and two rollers (one on either side). The stand only weighs 14lbs, so I could attach the saw to it and just leave it mounted.

I bought this stand from Sears a few years ago and I love it. At the time it was about $99.00.

I have something similar to what Tim linked. I think I paid about $70 for mine at Menard's. I don't care for roller supports for a miter saw--I'd rather it be more difficult for the material I'm cutting to move.

Rigid makes a great stand i use it everyday , ofcourse i am a carpenter so 200.00 on a good stand pays for itself in no time!

I too use a miter saw almost every day and would cringe at the thought of being hunched over a 29" stand.
Second on the not liking rollers, except if they have full support between the outboard roller and the saw table like my Trojan MS2000.
I've seen the DeWalt 723 folding extendable miter saw stand on closeout for $99 at the Big Orange Box.
I have this one too and like the integrated stops for repeat cuts.

I agree with Jim^^^^^^^^^^ I also work with saws everyday and this is the way to go,imho. I am not a big fan of the harbor freight rollers as they look flimsy. If you were to buy a seperate stand and rollers then you have to line them up compared with Dewalt set up, all lined up and waiting. Also a very sturdy unit.

The OP much like myself is probably a hobbyist. I don't need a $200 stand to roll my very heavy old miter saw around. A professional does.

As I said, I've seen my same stand for half that price at Home Depot. (same price as yours, that seems not to be available)
Mine came as part of a promotional package with the 12" slider saw and laser guide I bought a few years back.
The whole shebang was less than the cost of the saw alone.
The extendable stock supports can be adjusted both vertically and horizontally to align with the fence of your saw.
Additional lock on brackets are available so you can use this stand with multiple other tools.
It gets tossed into my truck morning and afternoon and I have only broken a plastic **** on a subzero day so far.

Probably the most reasonable/stable thing I'm going to come up with would be to get two saw horses and draw up/design a 2x4 bench to put on top of it.
Edit: WTF...a plastic/cheap (IMO) saw horse is ~$80? lol. I haven't bought many tools in the last few years. I guess inflation has crept up there.

...Or just get a plastic folding picnic table at Walmart.
Make a couple of blocks the same height as the table of your miter saw.
Screw everything down or use some cheap "QuickGrip" style clamps
It's nice to have a level surface to set your moulding on that you can measure and mark your cuts.
Nice also that you aren't bending over to pick it up off the floor all the time.

I took an old gas grill off the "cart part", screwed on several 5/4 decking boards and use carriage bolts with butterfly nuts to attach the saw(quick removal).
$10 and I've used it for 9yrs
