I think I am going ahead with a egr delete on my 05 with 44,000 miles on it due to deltas. Here is what else will be done:
1) STC fitting, anybody got the part #
2) Stand pipes and dummy plugs
3) Clean turbo and replace boots
4) replace thermostat
5) bluespring kit
6) and oil cooler of coarse
what else can I do since I am that deep and want to get all that is reasonable? is there another part that goes with the standpipe and dummy plugs?
The turbo boots are "engine specific" by year and model. IMHO there is no reason to replace the boots until they wear out. I had 150K on elbow boot when it cracked. The rest are still original at 173K and they've all seen in excess of 35 psi at one time or another.
sure appreciate those numbers, have I missed any particular procedure or part that needs to be attended to while in there? I may consider the bulletproof egr cooler and turn it off with the sct, I need to do more research on that. Trying to ensure that I can pull those long hot hills next summer with the 12000lb fiver and hot temperatures.
I think you've got it covered unless you want to go for it all and do the studs/gaskets. I also went with the BP EGR cooler instead of the delete, but the delete is fine. I wouldn't pass the visual inspection with a delete where I live if the tech knows what he's doing, and it wasn't that much more to stick with the BP.
As mentioned, no real need to do the boots if they are still holding fine, and I wouldn't even mess with the thermostat unless you're not getting up to temp right now.
Me2, did u do the sct programmer to turn off the egr valve? Is that really the same as a delete? I am thinking of going in that direction for the flexibility and ensuring that I do not get a check engine light. If I were do the delete only, would I be able to ensure that I could turn off that check engine light without using a programmer?
I did turn the valve off with the tune. As I understand it, if you do a delete without a tune, you will get a CEL unless you leave the EGR valve plugged in. If you leave it plugged in, I believe it will throw a code for low/no flow, but I don't think that code will trigger a light. I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm mistaken about that.

I have also heard that the engine cooling fan may not operate correctly with the ERG valve unplugged.
The most important thing to do, if you have a high delta T, is to flush the cooling system and replace the engine oil cooler before your EGR cooler fails because of the high temperatures.
