My '02 Navigator calls for 255 X 75 X 17 tires.
These are pretty hard to find, especially in ROWL.
My son's 2000 Expedition XLT Sport calls for 265 X 70 X 17 tires.
These seem to be the exact same diameter as my Navi tires.
With a much greater brand selection.
What size are you Navi owners using for replacement tires?
Have you noticed any difference when going to an alternate size?
Thanks in advance for your comments...........................

PDQ,
Since tires are now measured in metric, you could divide the width by 25.4 cm's to get the width in inches. The height is the % of it's width.
In your case, you are comparing two tire sizes, the first being 10.04 inches wide by 7.53 inches tall to the second tire, 10.43 inches wide by 7.3 inches tall.
As you can see, there is very little difference in these two sizes and unless there is not enough room in your wheel wells (probably not the case), either tire would work just as well and you probably wouldn't feel the difference.
You can however, buy different wear rated tires (hard vs soft) which will more than likely, change the feel of the ride much more than the two size differences.
I would use the tire that's most available at the right price and chances are, you will be perfectly happy.
You can save a step and not bother converting to English units. The height = the width (big number) x aspect ratio (small number). The old tires are 191.25mm tall, the proposed ones are 185.5mm. There is a 3% difference in height, the newer tire being shorter which will result in your speedo and odo being off (reading high) by 3%. Other than that you should be fine.
Math check.....while there is a 3% difference in sidewall height, based on the diameter of the rim and twice the tire height, there is only a 1.5% difference in diameter and also circumference, so that is what the speedo and odo will be off by.
Thank You for the replys. (I like that tire calculator )
I always wondered why Lincoln spec'd a 75 aspect ratio when it is so close to the 70 series. I also noticed that Tire Rack gives the mfg's revs/mile for each tire and there is only a difference of ~5 r/m for the two sizes in question. My speedo reads about 2mph fast so going to the 265/70 tires may bring it closer to the truth.
I'm leaning toward the 265/70-17 Michelin Latitude Tour which is their SUV all season touring tire, as my truck is most always on the pavement. I also like the UTQG spec of 720 and the fact that it is rated as a LRR tire.
Anyone have anything negative to add about the Michelin LTs?

If your speedo is out high now, it will be out higher with the tire change.
I've never had bad results with Michelin tires, I swear by them. I've had 6 sets as near as I can figure and have always been happy with them. I've tried others to save money and when it is all said and done it was a poor decision. Best traction, best ride and reasonable wear.
Looking at buying that tire for my wife's explorer. The Cross Terrains that are on there have 73k miles on them, not worn out yet. With winter coming on would feel better if she had more tread for the snow.
Michelin has a twice a year rebate, fall and spring. You may be able to hit that just right. I use a regional chain in the CT/MA market, they match any price including internet. So I hunt for the best price, show them, and they match it, then send in the rebate forms.
