Ground wire missing from stereo harness

I just got in the JVC stereo I won on ebay and there is no ground wire in the harness. I can tell where it used to be, but the connector inside the harness has been broken. Is it ok just to ground the chassis of the radio and let that be the ground?

Thanks

I would say yes, the internals should be grounded to the radio chassis anyway. You can probably pull the old pin out and get a replacement from radio shack or most well stocked electronics places. If all else fails, mouser electronics has everything you could want you just need a month to find it.

Thanks, that's what I thought, but figured since I'm still at work I'd just ask to get another opinion.

Thanks again.

Works perfectly. I grounded it with on the mounting screws on the side.

$20 well spent!
