Fuel Pump/ Fuel Level

99 PSD has been out of commision for a week and a half. First problem was the fuel pump relay. That is now working. Truck will still not fire.
Checked the HPOP pressure - 2000psi
Batt Voltage during crank 11.0
Ohmed out the IDM connector pins - all but one in the correct range
(will one out keep from firing?0
Getting fuel to the fuel bowl, but can not measure the pressure
because I have no way to do so - will add the pressure ports during rebuild

But this is my observation of the fuel. I do get some pressure- fuel squirts out after I have keyed a couple of times and then start to unscrew the lid to the fuel bowl. When I pull the lid/ filter, and key the fuel pump, it sort of bubbles into the fuel bowl, like it is sucking up a lot of air. I am sitting on 1/8 tank. Could I just not be getting enough fuel being sucked up out of the tank. I have run it this low before, without a problem. Someone suggested I may have a busted pickup foot. I will buy a replacement when I do the in-tanks mods.

Any suggestions?

To eliminate the foot problem, you can either add more fuel up to 1/4 or disconnect the line to the fuel pump and connect a length of hose to a jug of fuel and try that.

Depending on which wire you are referring to, at least one bank should be trying to fire.

Put fuel in and am now getting constant, smooth flow into the fuel bowl. Charged batteries - now crank at 10.8 and 10.5 volts

But still not starting.

Would like to spend the $400 on AE with Ford package, but may need to save the $$ for parts. Any suggestions?

How much flow are you getting? Turning the key on with the bowl empty should fill rapidly. If it seems weak you could disconnect the fuel line before the pump and hit it with a bit of air back toward the tank. If that works you need to get in the tank and fix it. Seeing any smoke while trying to start?

Not seeing any smoke when cranking. Would expect white smoke if injectors are firing. How can tell if injectors fire?

No white smoke while cranking and no start means no fuel or not enough fuel pressure to the injectors or the IDM is not firing the injectors.

The voltage while cranking looks OK so you may have a blown fuse for the IDM. Check under dash fuse #19 30 Amp - Fuel Bowl Heater, IDM and Wastegate Solenoid. The fuel heater may have shorted and blown fuse. If it is blown pull the white conector on the back of the fuel bowl and replace fuse. Leave connector unplugged and then try to start.

If this is the problem you can leave the connector unplugged without any worries other than it is also for the Water in Fuel sensor. If you want to re-connect it you will either have to get a new fuel bowl heater element or just remove the bad one. The fuel bowl heater is pretty useless anyway.
