Help with steering wheel, steering box alignment

I also posted in the 99 to 03 forum.

Two problems.

1)How do I center a steering box that was installed in the wrong position. The wheels were turned, and so was the position of the Pittman arm.

2)My "helper" unhooked the seat belt I had on the steering wheel, and doesn't remember how many times he turned it.

What do I need to do to get everything aligned, and centered.

2 ways to find the center of the steering range. note, I don't know if this style of steering box has an internal stop or not. The box could very well just spin forever. if this is the case STOP!.

1
center the wheels, get a puller and remove the pitman from the steering box

with the pitman removed, turn the wheel completely all the way until it stops. then go the other way and count the number of turns. do this twice to verify you have the correct number of steering wheel turns. then spin the wheel 1/2 that distance.

make sure the steering wheel is straight and lined up. at this point, put the pitman back on the steering box. make sure the tires are straight, and the steering wheel is straight.
2
Remove the airbag and look at the clockspring. remove the pitman as described above

using the clockspring as a reference, center the wheel. you are looking for the same amount of slack when turning left and right.

make sure the wheel is straigth up/down, then install pitman and put airbag back on

The lift I have makes it impossible to remove the Pittman arm without removing the box.
I'll do some research and find out how to remove the airbag.
Thank you!
