2nd row bench seat question

My second row (60/40) bench seat seems to be having a problem. The left side (60 side) will not release to allow the back of the seat to lean forward and then slide the whole seat forward so that people can get into the 3rd row. The seat will release to fold completely flat though.

I was trying to see if I could fix it today and found that for some the right side of the bar that goes through the seat is not turning like it should to release the back of the seat. I removed the screw that connects the bar to the mechanism that should release the seat and the handle moved freely like it should at that point. That tells me that the mechanism on the right side is locked up or something.

I was wondering if anyone else has run into this problem? If you have, what did you do for a fix? Do I need to remove the seat and replace the mechanism or is there a possible quick fix that you can recommend?

I have been using the right side (40) seat to let people in and out but the fact of the matter is that the seat should work and I would like to try to fix it if it is possible.

Thank you for your time and input!

Subscribing. Mine does the same thing. I always keep mine folded down but sometimes need it up for passengers. Hopefully someone will chime in with a fix.

Has no one had this problem before? I would like to try to avoid the stealership if possible. If anyone has any suggestions I will be glad to try them.

Reaching here, as I do not have this issue, but did you check the release cable? Make sure it is adjusted proper.

Thanks for the link broncorif but I am having the opposite problem from what they are having. All my parts appear to be straight and not bent as far as I can tell. It is locked up somehow.

You must not be seeing something which is causing it. Give a close look.
