As the result of playing with old iron all my adult life I've come to realize that something in better than average to excellent condition will command and get a premium price. If the truck is truly in the condition that it appears to be the price is in line, IMO. Read that as rust free, not repaired, and damage free with all mechanics working well.
I feel the truck is in the right ball park for asking price. I'm a bit higher than couple of you guys. But a rust free truck should fetch between $2000 to 2500 like that one. I seen others asking more on the net.
I paid $2500 for my 78 3/4 ton back in 2001 Now it sits with a blown engine. waiting for me to swap engines.
I have to agree with Glen on this one.
I`ve got a nice 69 Ranger that runs well and it could be on the road for less than $1,000 with the parts that I already have on hand but it would take lots of time and work. If I was looking and found a nice, fairly rust free driving 69 Ranger for that little money I`d be all over it.

Is it a 4x4 or 2-wheeler?
If it's a 4x4, that's a steal. Those are stupidly hard to find right now. I don't know how many barns, yards and JY's i've searched for a 4x4 frame. Seen mayyyyybe 3, but only one I've ever found was for sale and he wanted 2 grand (body was shot, tranny couldn't shift out of first and EVERYTHING leaked EVERYWHERE when I drove it).
I'd love to have a 4x4 instead of 2WD... those NP 205's are crazy durable like the C6.
The worst part about owning an antique IMPO, is that everyone thinks that used parts are worth the same price as brand new parts... ugh... sigh...
In July I saw a 76 4x4 in Brocks salvage here. It got flagged off the road for frame structure. I could not belive it. The truck was not rusted out either. Had good box and cab. So it was getting stripped down. I do not know if it is still there.

Drool. Good box and cab? I'd scoop that up in a minute... if I had the room....
I need to learn from you fellas tho... The city lots just don't have enough room for all these projects I want. I'm starting to think more like small acreage. Actually Morris has a really nice location and lots of space. Wouldn't mind getting something along the lines of what he has.
Any idea if that 4x4 was a an F250 (Highboy) and how much a wrecker would want for the rig (complete)?
He was not willing to sell the unit. Yes it was a F250 highboy. The internal of the cab were gone when I saw it.
I do not get that way much. He is a hour away from me.
I wanted to go back and get the windsheild. But never did and it is probally gone now. The motor was a 460 and I believe he had a buyer on it and was going to pull it.

Yeah, figures. He must have understood how rare something like that is in these parts. He'll probably try to part it out to get as much as possible from it.
And yeah, windshields are getting harder to find as well. Luckily, I've myself a good one through people telling me that they have a "patch" of these old dentsides sitting in a field. It was a pain in the butt to pull myself, but it was perfect. No cracks, and 100% there.
Wonder if that guy with the highboy would ever sell just the rolling chassis. Even that would be enough for me to be interested in it.

New windshields for the 67-79 Ford trucks were cheap, $120 cash and carry the last time I bought afew years ago and they`re`re super easy to self install.
It was the frame that they flagged it off the roads. . He did some modifying the frame and it compromised it.
I will just have to call them some day and see if the windsheild is still there. He was asking $50.00 for the windsheild if I take it out.

I got mine ever cheaper, but what i meant was from JY's. Usually you can't find a "perfect" windshield, and they want $150 for it.
When I got mine, it was $50 and in perfect condition, came with a perfect (crack free) 73 green seat, an almost perfect painted grey rear bumper with trailer wiring.
The guy who sold those three things to me then told me that I could pick over anything I wanted and I found a couple of small things like rubber shoes for all 3 pedals, a few plastic items as well as a couple of **** I was missing.

Awwwww........ that really really sucks.
$50 for the windshield is awesome. Taking it out yourself sort of sucks, but there are many other worse jobs out there.
All you need is an exact-o knife and some muscle. And then of course, a new front windshield gasket.
The one in my 78 is good rubber. So cutting the one from the wrecker would not be a problem. The windsheild is spider webbed with cracks. When I get it back on the road they most likely will ticket it.
Mine has that plastic chrome trim in the rubber. It has peeled to the grey plastic. So I would have to get a roll of that stuff to replace mine. Probally cost as much as the windsheild.
