Yep. I'm leaving toward the end of the month. I just have the alternator to install. I should be getting the correct pulley today. I'll take it by O'Reilly's and have them buzz it on. I'm keeping the old one as a spare because it works, just the bearings squeak sometimes. Now I just need a toolbox and a trailer.

I'm getting in the 20s on the highway. Mixed driving is about 14.

Sooooo, I caved, was out getting all the things I need for another job (steering box), and fluids for a long overdue change. Chatted with the parts guy, turns out a K&N air filter was only $40... and the pipe was dirt cheap.... Guess what I'm doing today... Making my neighbors hate me ever more, that's right.

I have to have the truck inspected this month. I wonder if it would pass without a muffler on it. I doubt it will but that won't stop me from trying.

So I hoped under the truck to get the measurements for my muffler, and was greeted by this.

Thinking I might just remove the back end of the exhaust and get an elbow bracket and just have it coming out the side where the muffler is.

Man that sucks!

When I bought my truck all the exhaust parts were there, but it was rusted off before and after the muffler. I replaced most of it, only to have one of the connections rust off a few years later. Ended up tying the parts off with some rope and driving home straight piped and emptying right after the y-pipe. Damn was that loud!

At the very least it's behind the muffler, so I can just cut it off in front of the muffler and be done with it.

mine started off as duels ending at back of transfer case and didn't like the sound so y-ed them together there and ran out in front of rear tire. to me it's not loud until about 2500 rpm, does echo in town at 4 am, if pulling sounds alot like 60's muscle cars.

heres my thread of my straight pipes. Its a 3 1/2" custom system i built. The system in my signature. Basicly the same path as the stock layout but minus the muffler!!! Taken with a phone so its not the best.
