86 F150 problems
I have a 1986 Ford F-150 351 Windsor 4 X 4 automatic. Problem is the new emission program here in Texas. It failed and I took I took it to a garage for repairs. After replacing the plugs, wires, carb, and finding a vacuum leak on the intake manifold, and many bucks later it did pass inspection. After all the repairs I didn't get any better gas milage and it didn't run any better. It's been in the shop more than I've had it this year. They have swapped out the carb once and now they are thinking it's a problem with the vacuum lines. They claim they can't find a decent diagram to figure this problem out. Any help would sure be appreciated!

I've had a warpped EGR plate cause lots of vac. Problems on a 79 i had. As for helping gas Mileage i dunno. I've got a 86 f150 2wd stepside with a 302, I get bretween 10-13MPG out of it. With ya using the extra lbs with the 4x4 and more motor if ya gettin the same MPG or a lil better ya doin good in my book. I've been checkin my MPG goin from Just outside Dallas to OKC on 35. That's not great mileage for the highway. I'm not sure what others get?
